The requirements
You must either be a refugee or asylum seeker, OR a migrant from outside the EU not having the opportunities to find work or in a difficult/vulnerable living situation.
Minimum age requirement of 18 years
English speaker (C1 or high B2 minimum). At the moment we only do this course in English. In the future there will be options for Spanish as well.
Availability for the duration of the course (9 months), including Saturday classes in person (6 hours) + one additional weekday class in the evening online (2-3 hours), and approximately 20 hours of autonomous study weekly (total commitment: 30-40 hours/week)
Residence in Barcelona or its immediate vicinity, as our classes are held in-person at one of our partner company’s facilities in Poble Nou
Exceptional motivation to learn IT, which is the most significant factor determining graduation success
Previous IT experience is beneficial but not mandatory

* The upcoming course on Web Development will start in October 2026. Before enrolling in the course, please ensure you are committed for 9 months, as for all Saturday and weekday classes, the attendance is mandatory. There will be summer, winter, and some bank holidays spread throughout the course. Specific dates are to be provided during the interviews.
The application process
STEP 1
Apply Online

Apply through our website via the button at the end of this page. In the form you have to include a motivation letter.
This part is already extremely important! Motivation is the strongest aspect of our course, as you will need to work a lot to complete our program. After sending the form, we will reply to you as soon as possible to inform you if you can continue with step 2.
Make sure to write a good letter with a minimum of 500 words. You will need to use the following template.
For the new group starting in October 2026, we will be closing applications on the week of the 10th of August. Applications received after this date will be considered for our next group in October 2027.
STEP 2
Intro to Digital (ITD)
20h – 35h
Step 2 is the most difficult step and you will need to take your time for it
Once your motivation letter has been approved, you will receive an email directing you to the Module: Intro to Digital (ITD). You will need to complete all the steps required and submit all the work you make to be reviewed by The MigraCode Team.
In this ITD Module you will learn:
- How to use Slack
- Evaluate Data using Google Sheets
- Learn HTML and CSS
- Build and deploy Projects
Additionally, we strongly recommend starting to learn JavaScript as soon as you begin your application with us. There are plenty of free resources out there. One free course we like to recommend is the FreeCodeCamp JavaScript course, which is a project-based course and beginner-friendly. Alternatively you can try the Javascript course on Scrimba here.
The last day to submit ITD will be the 31st of August, 2026. Projects received after this date will be considered for our next group in October 2027.
STEP 3
Final Interview
30m – 45m
The next part of the application process is to have an interview with one of the members of our team.
Don’t worry, it will be a relaxed interview we just want to get to know you better and to answer any questions you may have. During this interview, you can be as open as you want and inform us about any doubts you may have.
People with basic programming knowledge will have priority in selection process. So it is advised you prepare yourself by at least doing some crash course of JavaScript. If for some reason you are not selected, you can always apply again for the next course.
We will be conducting final interviews from July 15th
STEP 4
Onboarding session
1 hour
The final part of the application process is to come to our office in Barcelona to get to know us in-person and to receive a comprehensive introduction to MigraCode Barcelona.
You will get help installing the required software on your laptop, we will explain you the main tools that we use during the course and we explain other practical information about MigraCode.
We will start the onboarding process from September. Once this is done, all you have to do is wait for the course to start!
